PRAYER

PRAYER - The Lifeline to God and the Lifeblood of the Christian Community!

Hello and Welcome!

Prayer is God's gift to us, given freely, to be used without limit. Prayer does not require us to petition God. Prayer takes into the shelter of Jesus our Christ where our hearts and minds are sheltered from the lies, distortions, deception and falsehood, and there to be silent before God, to hear Him and listen to what is in His heart. .

This is what Paul taught the Church at Philippi

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! …
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.   Philippians 4:4, 6-7

Jesus modelled Prayer for us. When His disciples asked Him to teach them to pray he said, "Pray like this - Our Father in Heaven...."

OUR Father!  Jesus' Father and ours!  All the accounts we have of Jesus praying is a conversation He has with His Father.  Luke (22:31-32) records the incident when Jesus says to Peter, “Simon! Simon! Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat.  But I have pleaded in prayer for you Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”

John (17) records the occasion in Gethsemane when Jesus was visibly upset thinking of what lay ahead for Him, yet He spent time "praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. ... that they will all be one, just as you and I are one."

Join us in pray as Jesus did, praying for each other and for God's world, that we will be one just as the Father and the Son are ONE!
